Velindre Manor

Extensive refurbishment works were carried out to restore the Grade I listed building to a family home.

At the beginning of the works Trombe were engaged to undertake the detailed design and installation of an 11m tall glass façade within a wing that was in ruin. The restored space would create a new double height living space that also housed a large open plan kitchen.

The glass façade is a complete contrast to the original medieval construction. Whilst in some eye’s conservation may favour restoration through traditional methods, the glass façade provides an intervention to repurpose the space for modern living whilst preserving views through to the historic fabric.
