cambridgeshire cottage extension

Trombe were appointed from concept to completion to design and install a single storey glazed extension to a house within a Cambridgeshire Conservation Area.

The design takes the form of a flat roofed extension which is predominately glazed, it incorporates structural steelwork, clerestory windows, a large ‘picture window’, glazed sliding screens and a flat roof with a large glazed roof light.

The extension added approx. 25sqm of space to the lower ground floor. The clerestory windows on the boundary wall side helped reduce the bulk and visual impact of the development.

The structural steel frame was clad with feature aluminium cladding and the external walls of the extension were constructed in brickwork to match the existing buildings. The current block garden wall be replaced by the external wall of the proposed extension.

During the excavation works, a well was discovered and was retained and covered with a walk on glass unit.
