Edgeware Glass Box
A glass box to the rear of an existing house to act as the feature space between two new extensions. The space was to create an area that provided views out over the garden and to bridge the inside and out. Whilst the glass box is minimal in appearance it was a complex installation. The front unit was the maximum width generally available and was also 3.4m tall making it a jumbo unit that weighed 540kg. All the glass had to be installed via a crane lift over the house and had to be completed in one day which meant getting the 3 vertical units in place, bonded and propped before being able to install the roof unit which weighed nearly 700kg.
