Highbury House Extension

Trombe worked with the client’s architects to provide the specialist design, fabrication and installation of a glass extension at the back of a terraced house in the Canonbury Conservation Area.

As part of a full refurbishment of the property, the existing traditional conservatory was replaced with a dramatic glazed structure, creating a new open plan kitchen and dining space with an improved visual connection with the garden.

The principal feature of this design is the steel structure that provides a strong vertical emphasis, being comprised of a series of framed bays, stepping up from the perimeter walls to culminate in a pair of very tall French doors, which open out into the garden.

In order to fully express the steel frame, both internally and externally, and ensure good thermal performance, the steelwork was carefully insulated and clad with metallic coated aluminium.
