Surrey Hills Farmhouse

It is notoriously difficult to obtain consent for a new build house in the Surrey Hills Area on Outstanding Natural Beauty, but this project was granted on the basis of the replacement of a much smaller workman’s cottage. We worked closely with the architects before the planning stage to devise the design strategy and on the detailed design once consent was granted.

We manufactured and installed several glazed elements, including a predominantly glazed dining room featuring large sliding doors, overlooking a landscaped garden, and a two-storey stair tower, which involves structural glazing affixed to a green oak frame. We devised a unique system of glazing that accommodates the movement that occurs as the timber dries out following construction.
