A major refurbishment of an existing house in the Lake District National Park that added a large contemporary extension wing to an existing building.

Trombe were involved in the design and installation of the bespoke glazing that surrounded the dramatic large open plan space. This extension contained an open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining room.

Large expanses of glazing were key to the project to capture the dramatic views over the beautiful landscape. To maximise the vista out over the lake the design incorporated a cantilevered corner that opened with minimal frame corner sliding doors.

The building envelope utilizes both solid elements and large expanses of feature glazing to maximise the daylight and views, without compromising on thermal comfort or the risk of overheating.
