Yorkshire Townhouse Extension

The owners of this Grade II listed townhouse in North Yorkshire found that they could rarely enjoy using their terrace has extensive views of the surrounding countryside, because it is windy and cold.

Their request was so needed a garden shelter, rather than a conventional extension.

As the site is prominent within the townscape, a minimal, almost invisible, structure w imperative, and the clients set us a challenge in the detailing; custom made or specially adapted fittings where painstakingly designed to achieve the desired effect.

The frameless 180˚ folding glass doors are single glazed to avoid the visual impact of double glazing edge spacers and the steel frame is concealed by mirrored stainless steel cladding which reflects the sky and landscape. The connections with the existing building and terrace where also carefully detailed to minimize the visible impact of the glass box.

Although this project is unusual, it demonstrates our attention to detail, and our ability to provide highly individual design solutions.
